Arc Lamps – Delicate lighting solution
Among the many variants of floor lamps, the arc lamp or arc light stands out in particular. Its tall slender structure is bent as an ejected pivot. There is a lampshade which donates both direct light downward and pleasant diffused light for the environment. Despite its imposing size arc lamps emit always elegance and lightness. As a classy eye-catcher these light enriche especially the living room and dining room, where they give warm and cozy light for reading and eating.
Especially when the dining table in the living room and the necessary ceiling connector is missing, the Arc Light is an excellent alternative to the classic pendant light. It is lighting from above the entire table surface evenly, without restricting the freedom of movement of the guests, thanks to the high and narrow arc structure. Moreover, each Arc light enables a flexible lighting design. Depending on requirements, it can even light up the dining table, or the reading area or the seating area with sofa and armchair in the living room.
An arc lamp, is sometimes also called pivot light and releases all its effect especially in large rooms. In small rooms it can appear huge, but the high, narrow structure ensures a balancing ease and the lampshade seems to float even in the air. The filigree jewelry makes a very good effect, particularly in a modern, low-key atmosphere.
As lighting type the arc light first appeared in the 1960s. To great fame the Flos Arco Arc Light came from the Italian designer legends Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni. It has at a tremendous totaling of 2.40 meters; its base consists of a large block of white Carrara marble, which holds the sweeping, curved steel structure. This also consists of several telescoping parts, so that the height of the Flos Arco lamp can be adjusted variably.
The swiveling lampshade in the form of a hemisphere consists of polished aluminum and provides direct light downwards; by an additional perforation in the upper section, the Flos Arco arc lamp offers additional ambient light.
Thanks to the marble base and the sweeping arc, the Flos Arco floor lamp, can stand far off the table, and even light it from above. Also, guests can enjoy a greater range of motion, as they can go around the table in front of the lamp without offending. In the upper third of the marble block, there is also a hole, thanks to that, the Flos Arco arc lamp can be lifted and moved easily by means of a stick or broomstick by two people.
The Arco Flos arc light is undoubtedly one of the classics of the lighting design and has been part of the permanent exhibition at the New York Museum of Modern Art since the 1970s. Until today, it is the renowned Italian lighting manufacturer Flos produced in an almost unchanged form. At LightingDeluxe the Flos Arco arc lamp is available in two versions halogen and dimmable LED.
A relatively young representative of the arc lamps is the graceful Lady Constanza. Paolo Rizzatto designed it in 2008 for Luceplan on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the company. Despite its enormous size of 2.50 meters high and 2.03 meters wide, the Luceplan arc lamp Lady Costanza radiates lightness and restrained elegance.
